Fox News host Jesse Watters was slammed by many viewers for doing a softball interview with NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, who continues to insist that a benign garage-door pull rope was a racist “noose.”
Watters did not push back at Wallace when he bragged that he doesn’t regret playing the race card when he falsely claimed he was the victim of a hate crime — even before investigating the incident.
Fifteen FBI agents immediately investigated the matter and concluded that no hate crime occurred.
Wallace has since admitted that he was “embarrassed” for overhyping the incident and jumping to conclusions. Moreover, Bubba conceded that he “was not the target” of a racist hate crime. Yet he still insists that the garage door rope was a “noose.”
Watters said (see video below): “Everyone’s happy it wasn’t a hate crime and that you were not targeted. So one of your team members, African-American guy, noticed the rope hanging down that looks like a ‘noose.’ He contacts NASCAR. NASCAR contacts you, and they launch an FBI investigation. Is that how it went down?”
Wallace replied: “Yes, David Cropps, my team member there. He said before he overreacted , he did his research. I talked to the FBI twice. [The FBI found it was] there since 2019. The ‘noose’ was there since 2019 and I was not the target of a hate crime . But in fact, it was a noose. Not a working noose as they say, but it was a noose.”
